Farm life

Getting a working holiday visa for Australia is easy. It took me 10 minutes to fill in an online questionnaire and pay the £150 and I had the confirmation email within an hour. Bravo. But, getting a second year visa is hard. Really hard.

Tom and I count ourselves very blessed to have gotten the jobs we are both doing - we work in a plant nursery where Tom sprays all the plants with fertiliser and I weed, prune and graft plants.

I say we count ourselves blessed because when we first arrived in Mildura, Victoria to start our 88 days of 'rural work' we both had to head out into the orange fields and pick bins and bins of oranges for nearly no money (we were staying in a ridiculously expensive hostel and had to pay for transport so we barely made enough to cover that) so we know first hand that we could be a far worse job.

Tom, the boy who has always lived in a city, has grasped onto country life like a bee onto honey. He loves it. Couldn't be happier. I, on the other hand, have struggled. There are many things I like - I like working outside, I quite like being able to listen to 7 or 8 music albums everyday and having an abundance of thinking time. I like driving tractors but I can't quite cope with the backache of bending over weeding for 8 hours a day, working in 37 degrees heat (I swear I'm going to faint in the next week or two) nor the insects. For those who know me, know I am petrified of spiders. I despise them and yet everyday I see at least 3 'transula' sized huntsmen, numerous redbacks, jumping spiders (don't get me started on those) and white tails - of which can kill you.

So to say that I am happy we have nearly finished our farming sentence would be an understatement. I know I'll be thankful of this time when we're walking through arrivals for the beginning of our second year in Oz but frankly, these last 11 days can not end soon enough.

This is us about to depart (I don't even recognise this pale couple, we have aged), yes that's right.. Tom and I have been travelling the big wide world for 1 whole year today!!! Can you believe that? It has gone so fast, so so fast. It makes me sad that neither of us have seen any family members in that time but we have had and continue to have the best time ever.

We eventually booked our flights home and plan to arrive into London at the very end of March next year after New Zealand and the USA. We're excited to go home and reunite with our families but we're still very excited with what the next 4 months will hold.

Countries we have visited so far: Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia

5865KM, 15 days, 4 states, one side of the country to the other and lots of reuniting with old friends - We have arrived in Sydney!

The south of Western Australia was rainy, but beautiful, we went to wineries in Margaret River, caves, forests before hitting up the Nullarbor desert. It took us 3 days to get across to Adelaide and thankfully the journey was a lot better than we thought it would be. Tom and I had a lot of fun talking complete nonsense and singing many tunes along the road.

South Australia was the prettiest state to drive through. We met up with Ryan (whom we used to live with) in Adelaide, and stumbled upon a wine and food festival in the Barossa Valley. We liked SA.

The Great Ocean Road was beautiful, the sights and views were astounding! I'd like to redo that road again on a super hot day as there are so many cute sea side towns by pretty little beaches.

Melbourne was too good. We met up with Tom Wykes (friend who I worked with in Birmingham), Ken (real name Sean who we met and hung out with at Glastonbury 2010), Tim (from Belfast) AND the very kind Adrian (who we travelled from Thailand, through Malaysia to Singapore with in January) who let us kip on his floor.

The vibe of Melbourne compared to Sydney is more Tom and I. So music and art - if that makes any sense. We instantly felt we could make it our home therefore can't wait to return there!!

So now we're in Sydney. I have been reunited with my dear friend Ashley after a few too many years, She took me along to Hillsong. It was incredible. We are staying with Tom's friend's Phill, Morgs and Pav on the 26th floor of the beautest apartment in North Sydney. We have nothing to be sad about.

As to not make this THE longest post ever - I look forward to sharing the rest of our trip in the form of photographs with you soon (PS: yes I did take that photo above!!! It's a beauty). xo

Wow, what a few weeks. I haven't had a chance to blog in a while as I have been working alot more than full time trying to save some extra pennies for our big trip this weekend. How fast has it come around? We're hoping the drive won't take much more than 2 weeks as we only have the camper for 15 days! Sydney here we come! We're both happy and ready to leave Perth but will still be upset to leave our friends and home for the past 6 months.

Speaking of saving money, I have been quite bad recently an bought few new items to (struggle to) squeeze into my backpack. Tom treated me to a new beaut purple tee with lovely lovely sleeves. I bought a browny-orange dress for $10 AND got 2 blouses (one silk and pearl buttons and the other cotton long sleeves with gold buttons) at a local charity shops for $12 and Tom got his tattoo! Treats all around!

My love and I had a wonderful date day the other day and took the ferry across the river to South Perth where the view of the city's skyline is quite something. The weather was beautiful, I wore my new dress (total sale bargain) and we had lots of laughs followed by 4 games of pool - 3:1 to Tom and some drinks. Oh how I love my days with my boy.

The best £10 I've ever spent

About a year ago I purchased a pair of white converse high tops from Office for only £10. Like, where can you ever get converse for a tenner? Luckily, I caught them in a sale and as Roxy works there I got some extra discount.

Sadly, the time has some where there are holes in the bottom, the stains in them won't wash out and it looks like they are dying a slow death but still, I can not bring myself to throw them out. They've travelled the world with me and protected my feet from all harm. They are in my top 4 pairs of shoes and boy do I have a lot of pairs of shoes.

I got a $50 gift card from work (employee of the month or something?!) so I went shopping and found these original Adidas trainers. $100 down to $70 and with a $50 gift card all I had to pay was $20. Bargain.

Now all I have to do is ween myself off of my converse as I definitely can't fit both pairs in my backpack!

So tell me, what's the best £10 you've ever spent?

Lily Allen married her fiance Sam Cooper on Saturday in a beautiful Chanel dress.

As much as I love Lily and this dress, I'm not sure I love them together. I was surprised Lily would opt for something so traditional when in the past she was so radical and fashion forward. It's unfortunate the Royal wedding was only a month ago because all I can think of is how Kate's dress was nearly exactly the same. And as for that hat/veil thing? No. What do you think?

On a positive note - it was announced during Sam's speech that Lily is pregnant. How exciting! (I knew there had to be a reason for the baggy bump showing). I wish her all the blessings in the world.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made their first “official” engagement since returning from their brief honeymoon in May, last night at a charity gala in London.

Kate looked absolutely flawless in a shimmering rose cap-sleeve sequined gown by British designer Jenny Packham. She completed the look with size 39, (interesting as I too am a size 39) LK Bennett shoes and a pink satin clutch.

I know the Royal Wedding was nearly a month ago but I had told my Mother around the time of the posh pantomime that I really wanted a Royal commemorative* china plate to go with my mug and she's just text me to say she's in London and off to buy me one which reminded me to post this photo. How cool are these. I want them all!

Lily has gone and done it again. She is a very talented artist, she knows her fashion and owns, what looks like, every girls dream store.

Lucy in Disguise opened up it's shared dressing up box recently and oh my does it look a treat.

A retro hair and makeup salon (with cocktail and champagne lists and a tea party option; perfect for hen parties) below in the store's huge basement is a clever touch, as is the renting service; more expensive pieces can be hired out for three-day periods, at a tenth of the retail price. A personal bonus (as my bf gets very impatient shopping) is that there's no chance for HABs (husbands and boyfriends) to get bored, as there is a dedicated lounge area complete with a Playstation and vintage Men's mags.

If anyone is in London soon, please go visit and let me know what you think as it's going to be another year before I'm home and able to visit myself.

I have a thing for chairs/sofas. I love them. Tom and I had a wonderful date day and found a lovely little vintage styled restaurant called 'The Moon' a few minutes walk from our house. The outside/back area had lots of old worn chairs that just made the place look authentic, cosy and old. I like old.

That night we went on a ghost tour of Fremantle Prison. This meant walking around a run down prison in darkness at 10pm with the smallest torch man ever made. We didn't see any ghosts and it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be (thankfully) AND afterwards we went to The Loft where they have more lovely, lovely chairs.

I have a not-so-secret love of weddings, romance and everything that comes along with falling in love, finding 'The One' and two people being united together in marriage.

One of my best friends, Carly, is getting married next June 2012. She got engaged on Christmas Eve last year, 3 weeks after I left home to travel. I always knew I was going to be one of her bridesmaids as we've been planning our weddings since we were 12 years old, long before we ever had any remotely serious boyfriends. What I did not know then was that I wasn't going to be around for the year building up to her big day helping her plan, pick dresses and write invites.

In the meantime I have been feeding my love of weddings by scouring the internet for inspiration. Here are some of my favourites.

I lust my wardrobe

This is some of my clothing I'm spending a little over a year travelling the world in. Even when we're on the other side of the world and my selection of clothing is much more limited than home I still have to have everything colour coordinated. Some would say I have OCD; this includes DVDs being in alphabetical order and books being colour coordinated too. I can honestly say the only thing everso slightly difficult about travelling the world is the lack of clothing you can fit into your back pack. I'm so pleased vacuum packs were made so I could squeeze in a few extra items.

I celebrated my 23rd Birthday yesterday. It was a special day as it was also Easter Sunday. Two of my favourite days rolled into one. To me, birthdays should always be celebrated with your family; afterall without them I wouldn't be here in this form. My brother Sam's birthday is the day before mine and we always blow out our candles together at 12am when he passes his birthday over to me. This was the first year we weren't together. Thank the Lord for skype!

Tom treated me to the most wonderful Swarovski ear rings and a lovely dress, although I did return the dress for a blouse I preferred and thought I would get more wear out of. We went out for some champagne while my lovely housemates and friends cooked up a roast and surprised me with a Birthday Party. Here are some snaps...

My Obsession with Clothes

The need to shop can be a hard habit to break. For many people buying new clothing, shoes, accessories, books, CDs and other things can bring joy to a dreary day. It can make you feel a temporary rush but without proper budgeting - can destroy your life.

I used to be a compulsive clothes buyer. Often I felt a need to buy something new to fill my time. More often than not it was an item I wore once, maybe twice if it was lucky. I couldn't go into a shop and come out empty handed. If I got it in my mind I wanted something I won't stop obsessing about it until I had it. Needing new things is an addiction; learning to enjoy what you already have is a freedom! ..I have just come to learn this concept.

I haven't bought a new item of clothing (minus one small thing!?!) since June. JUNE. There hasn't been any particular reason, I just made an unthoughtful comment after Uganda that I wasn't going to buy anything clothes related until Christmas. I'm extremely pleased I've made it this far.

I'm going to London for the weekend tomorrow and I KNOW FOR A FACT I won't be able to resist a sneaky trip to Camden Market, Portobella Road or Topshop's Oxford Circus store. Will I be able to resist my temptations or give in to my old habit/addiction to shop?

I have had a world wind 4 months. One month in Uganda, Two months in Majorca and now I'm nearly into 3 weeks living in Birmingham; A city where I know very few, have no job and don't quite feel at home as yet.

I have been making plans to save the world. Plans to do what I can for others but I can't seem to get the motivation or direction. I feel everso slightly useless and lost.

I need a trip home to get inspired and encouraged by those who know and love me.

Seriously unsettled.

This is a blog to promote the 24 Hour Subway on The Dublin Road in Belfast.

It is brill.

It hasn’t been an overly long period of time since we found out that it is infact a 24-hour food place but boy have we made up for lost time. You can find us in it at around 2-3am, two out of seven nights a week making friends, singing to the employees, entertaining the bouncer (yes, they have a bouncer) with our dance moves and munching into a 6” hearty Italian with chicken, lettuce and mayonnaise followed by a chocolate chip cookie.

My mouth is definitely watering.

So folks, gather your Mums, Dads, Grannies, Granda’s, Friends, Spouses, Neighbours, Cousins, Cats and head down for an unforgettable experience.

I know, I know. I am ridiculously bad at this blogging business now. I guess I should be pleased that my journal is now filled up with handwritten thoughts.

Canada and America were brill. I had such a good time being away with my family. We spent our three weeks travelling around Niagara Falls, Ohio, New York, Boston, Sarnia in Canada and Toronto.

Ohio was probably my favourite.

I spent the summer there four years ago on a cross community project called C.F.P.N.I (Children’s Friendship Project Northern Ireland) where a Catholic and Protestant come together to spend a month with a host family. I was paired with a bird called Caoimhe whom I met on the way to the airport before our trip and we had THE BEST time together. We laughed, cried, shared and grew together through the whole project . We had the most amazing host family known as ‘The Flynns’. I’m not sure the project would have worked and been as successful if it wasn’t for them. It’s families like Monica and Kevins that make this world a better place. They gave of their time, money, love, home and family to welcome two young girls into their lives. Not just for a summer but for forever. Caoimhe and I were truly blessed.

The purpose of our visit to Ohio was to revisit where I stayed those four years ago and it was fantastic. It was so special having my brothers with me this time and sharing in my experience with them. The Flynns Kids, Patrick, Casey, Megan, Brianna and Frankee get on so well with them we wouldn’t have minded staying there for the whole duration of our trip!

New York was incredible when I think about it. Granda surprised us and flew over to hang out with us for the 3 days. He goes to New York about 4 times a year and so it was good to have our own personal tour guide. He is a legend.

3 weeks is a long time when I had barely seen my family for a weekend last year but I would do it all again tomorrow.

October has approached us all very quickly and it’s been a month since I moved into my beaut new house. I’m living with Nicci, Shari and Samantha this year. Our house is lovely. We have a fire, lights that dim, patio doors and great neighbours. We’re easily pleased.

Tom, the guy I got engaged to, ha, when I went to Majorca at the start of July is still working out there. I just got back last Monday from spending the weekend with him in Magaluf. It was so much fun. We get on so well and although he lives in Birmingham, I don’t think I’ve seen the last of him.

Times are exciting and I’m loving the feelings of butterflies’.

It's only the 4th and so far it's proved to be the busiest but best few days. I finished work last thurday for a month. Moved out of my house on friday, sad sad times but we've got an even nicer one for september so all is good. Spent the weekend at the caravan as all the girls and guys are home from Uganda. Had some bonfire bant on the beach and now, I'm sitting in the airport waiting to depart for Canada. I can not wait. We arrived an hour too early so I could have had that extra hour in bed but sure....

I have a total of 51 seconds to finish and post this so sorry it isn't very exciting. I'll blog from Niagara Falls!!!

Sun, Sea, Sand and Spain

I was very spontaenous last monday and booked a flight to Majorca Spain, due to depart two days later. I had the best time but it feels like a dream now. I flew out last wednesday and came home early tuesday morning much to my distress returning to rain and work.

Nicci and Kim have been out there since the start of June working so it was really cool seeing them again. As the usual holidays go.. we made alot of friends, stayed out alnight every night, didn't see much sun apart from the walk home and stop off on the beach to watch the sunrise with the boys guitars. It was bliss and I was in my element. I got to sing at a girls private birthday party and I got up on stage in Mulligans Indie Bar and have a wee sing song too.

O and I got engaged to a guy in a cool band called 'Curzon Circle' ....check them out. They are named after a roundabout in Birmingham. Apparently we're honeymooning at the westest point of Ireland.... He got me the ring and I got him those broken glasses.

As good as holidays are, they are also hard. It seems to only be about drugs, sex and alcohol. I hated the thought of being in this atmosphere and scene and looking like or coming across like I was just like everyone else there when I know I'm not. I often thought about how much work the 24/7 guys are doing in Ibiza and I think we need alot more set ups like that in places such as Magaluf.

Anyway, I'm off this weekend too so I may fly back to dance to my holiday song....

I'm sorry I haven't blogged in forever. Turns out that as soon as you turn twenty life picks up it's pace, I really don't need that but it's true!

For the past two months I have...

1. Been to London twice. For those who know me know I LOVEEEEE London. Like really love it. The time I went with Joy and Mel and stayed with Estelle (is it just me or did that rhyme?) ..was the best, we got 2p flights very spontaneously and just went. This is a plug for ryanair people. We drove around London at night, got the tour which was much better that those tour buses, went to brick lane to the 24 hour bagel shop, only to return to the car after 5 minutes to find the window smashed and my bag and contents gone. Raging. I lost around £350 worth of stuff, so much for the 2p flights. Anyway, I'm still moving there.

2. Went on Lynseys hen of all hen weekends. We started off shaking our booties at the Mclub groovy train on the Friday night, which I might add did lead to me winning the dance competition and champers. I was brill. For the those who are my mate on facebook.. check it out! Saturday saw us heading to Cavan for a spa weekend, it was pure bliss. Carly and I thought it was normal to head down for breakfast in our big white robes only to find we were the only two. We somehow managed to convince Mel and Danielle that this was the norm so they too did the same and went through the embarrassment of being stared at.

3. Hung out with Boyzone backstage at the Odyssey!! I was very surprised to find I'm taller than Ronan, Stephen AND Mikey. I also got to work alongside Shane Lynch and Canaan Press in the PR and marketing for his Autobiography. The book signing went well and his book, 'The Chancer' is really great. It's such a great testimony. If anyone wants one then let me know. It's fair to say Shane and I are firm mates now, he appreciates my banter. I was going to put up the photo where he's pulling a funny face but I like his hand on my shoulder in this one.

4. Retire from the Uganda trip. This has particularly broke my heart. I'm gutted I can't go but for a mixture of reasons being work commitments and funds. July will be tough.

5. Witnessed Grant and Lynsey getting hitched. After my strap marks/tan fiasco, the day was brill. I had the honour and privilege of being their maid with Carly and Steph. I loved being Alain's 'B....' for the day too. The wedding party was the best I'd been too, Dixie took it to a whole new level when he and I wedding crashed at the wedding next door, I tucked my bridesmaid dress up so it looked like a mini skirt, that was a clear giveaway we were in the wrong wedding. Best day. They are currently honeymooning in the Dominican Republic.

6. Got a job promotion!! I am now the Supervisor of the All Saints store, Victoria Square, Belfast. I'm not going to work in retail forever but my manager reckons I'm good at it and has given me a lot more responsibility, a pay rise and very soon a key!

And number 7. Got a new housemate, wohooooooo. She's brill.

Times are busy but life is good.

No joke. I am Good Luck Chuck. For those who have seen the movie, my version is more altered. It's not who or something i aspire to be, it just happens.

I haven't had many boyfriends. I'm scared of commitment. To cut a long story short... Anytime I am romantically linked to a guy, after it comes to an end, he meets the woman of his dreams.

THIS IS NOT A JOKE.

I don't in anyway hold a grudge against this or I'm not annoyed that it happens. Infact I find it really funny. It just actually happens everytime. Everytime being 4 or 5 and thats since 3rd Year.

My third year boyfriend began going out with his girl a day after we called it quits, 6 years later they are still together and have a kid! Another one is still with his bird of 5 years, and one married within a year. I've knew about my reign for a while but I've decided to take it more seriously after another ones new girl wrote a song about me called 'I Loved You First' ...I knew him first but who can argue with a girl who's so dedicated to write a song about it. I take it as a thank you.

I reckon there should be some award for my good work to society.

Birthdays!!

And so it's that time of year again, my favourite.. birthday season! For those who know me well know that I love my family and particularly my brothers more than anything so to share my birthday in the same week as my nephew and one of my younger brothers is a privilege. It was my nephew Marks on Monday 21st, he's a whole 64 hours older than me. Yes, older! And Sam's 16th was yesterday, I can not believe he'll be learning to drive in a year. And mine is today. I am 20 years old. I'm old. Half of 40. Nightmare.

For some reason I didn't tell anyone it's my birthday today. I usually keep reminding people for at least a month before and reading back to last years blog on my birthday I was so ready for that 19 milestone but 20, that's a different story.. I guess in not telling people I thought I was putting it off.

I just looked through photos of Sams 14th and my 18th, o how we have changed! Time scares me, alot.

X Factor Auditions

I'm meant to be in Manchester participating in an X Factor Audition last weekend. I got the letter through a couple of weeks ago not knowing who had rang up the contestant hot line to enter me, later finding out it was my housemate. Nice thought.

The guy I sing and do gigs with, Gary, is over there now, I feel bad I didn't accompany him. He's got through the first stage, off to perform in front of the judges next! He's a great singer and guitar player. He deserves to go far, especially after going to the auditions last year but turning up a day late after I told him the wrong day. I know, I know. I still feel bad.

I absolutely love the auditions, My Saturday nights are a no-go out when they are on. Why people who blatantly can't sing go on to humilate themselves is beyond me. It is hilarious. So heres to Gary and Saturday nights in from September on...

Pin 2003-2008

It's a sad day. I've literally just found my pet fish Pin dead. I'm gutted.

My housemate Roy text me when he got in very late on monday night and said, 'Your fish is dead.' No remorse or anything, I thought he was joking. I feel a strong sense of neglect because it has taken me until now to find him floating in a plastic cup beside the remaining 3 fish in the 122 household. Actually gutted.

Pin has been with me since the summer of 2003. I remember it clearly, Joy, Carly, Lynsey and I were all working in a wee cafe in Lurgan and this particular day when we all finshed at the same time we decided to head to Jolly's pet shop to purchase new friends. The girls weren't very lucky with their fish as they all died within a few months but Pin was a trooper.

I'll treasure those sleepless nights when I used to watch him swimming about his bowl, wondering what he's thinking about in those 3 or 4 seconds before he'd forget. He will be missed. I'm off to flush him down the toilet while singing The Little Mermaid, Under the Sea.

Benedictine Monks

I had, if not the, one of the best days ever on Monday with Indya and Josh.

Josh is our American mate who lives and works in Germany. We met him over a year and a half ago when Indya, Laura, Drew, Joey and I went over to Brussels for the weekend. He's great. He works in a very difficult job where there's not many christians around but yet his faith in God and belief that he's there for a reason is inspiring. He loves the emerald isle and has been over about 4 times since we first met. I especially love it when he comes because not only do I get to catch up with him again but he brings us 4 (Laura, Indya and Drew) back together again and that is nice.

Josh has been interested in the Benedictine Monks for a while and had planned on going to visit them while he was over. I tagged along. It was amazing. Their lives are far from what we would conclude as normal. We met with Brother Thierry who came over from France to live in the retreat many years ago. He told us about their day to day lives which consist of 5 set praying times, that in itself I find impossible. Josh asked the important questions like 'how do you feel your mission in moving over here for God is coming along?'. Where as I asked if he ever goes out for dinner... I forgot to ask if I could have a robe. He said some fantastic things. One thing stuck out when I asked him if he gets annoyed or impatient with all the visitors to his home he responded by saying, 'We wish to treat everyone like Jesus, when people come we welcome them and bring them into our lives. They are just like Jesus'.

I was very humbled by that. So much I didn't feel worthy of being there.

We left Rostrevor we went to Kilbrony and climbed to the big rock that over looks, Warrenpoint, Carlingford and the Mournes. I always feel like I need to whisper at the top of mountains. It's a great feeling.

We then drove to Cranfield and I made a 2008 comeback. I always, always remember the first day I go back in a new year or new caravan season. I love it so much. Cranfield has been my summer home since I was two and like I've said before is responsible for alot of my life changing experiences so will always hold a special place in my heart. We went for lunch in the famous port-o-call in Kilkeel before driving to Newcastle for a mint chocolate chip ice cream from Mauds and a walk along the promenade.

With it only being 2:30pm and I didn't have to be in Belfast for work until half 5 we decided to head to Tullymore Forest Park outside Newcastle for a walk, which turned into a two hour mission of finding our way out and being late! I couldn't believe I hadn't been there before.

I never have days like last Monday. For those who know me, know I'm always busy and never have time to just chill. it's not good. My Mum says I make people feel busy and rushed when I'm around them. I need to sort that out. I love being with Indya, she is the most chilled girl. I feel relaxed around her. Everyone, absolutely everyone need an Indian (Indya) in their lives. She is the best.

I feel like I've been 'about more' and I like it.

I am actually shocked it's April already and I'll soon officially no longer be a teenager as I approach the tender age of twenty. This year, or since september, my world has been totally hectic and I think I've got caught up too much in my career and dreams to appreciate the people and the reason I am where I am today. God has blessed me abundantly. My family have supported me when no one believed in me and I couldn't be happier. The past month I've been about Lurgan more, I've loved it. I haven't intentionally been away and I do see my family every week but returning to church after a month with everyone asking where I've been makes me feel like I was missing for alot longer. These past few weeks have made me appreciate my home town more. I have always appreciated where I've came from but I now realise it's where I get my energy from. The people, my family, my church. I'm so lucky to come from such a close knit community.

Belfast is great, but it's not for me. I've come to the conclusion were I either have to be at home home or far away from home. Belfast is in the middle so it doesn't work. That sounds strange but I've decided from September I'm moving back home to Lurgan to save for my big move to London in Summer 2009. I can not wait. If my internship with MTV doesn't pan out, GMTV are looking for Presenters, how exciting.

I just got confirmation that Europe are taking our radio show. It's so strange to think that 690,000,000 (...yes that is million) people have access to a one hour music show I present. I LOVE IT. The website is going under some construction so as soon as it's sorted I'll post it up for you all to have a listen...

It's now into single digits until Lynsey and Grant's big day, 9 weeks!! ...It's probably wrong to say I'm more excited than anybody but I am. We went for another dress fitting through the week and as we were waiting for another bridal party to leave we got talking about Lindsay Emerson and how it's so surreal that it's nearly a year since she passed away. Their wedding day will be strange without her. I remember her wanting to plan Lynseys hen weekend straight away. She was so excited so be bridesmaid. Although she won't be there, Lins will definitely be a big part of the day.

God is working on me alot these days. I can't express in words what he's doing but it's great and I'm very happy.

11 and a half weeks to Uganda and 17 weeks until Canada and America, o yes!!

Divorce

I always thought kids were somewhat different when their parents were separated. I'm not sure why, I think I felt sorry for them. I remember thinking this often when I looked at the few girls in my primary school class that came from broken homes. At 10 or 11 when I became one of those kids my views automatically changed although I never told anyone I was 'one of those girls'.

Dad was my best friend, I loved him more than anything. I still do. When my Mum and Dad would walk through the front door I would rush past my Mum to hug my Dad. Inevitably the day I watched my Dad cry as he left was the hardest day of my life. I really, really struggled to come to terms with not having both my parents around everyday together.

My parents have now been separated for nearly ten years and although it probably took me up until the past year or two to come to terms with it and be able to openly talk about it I found it a shock when my mum informed me the other night that they are finally getting divorced. It's weird. I never ever expected them to get back together. My parents are happy with their partners. It's just weird knowing that they aren't legally bound together.

1st Corinthians 7:39 'A woman is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, but he must belong to the Lord'.

It's ironic that my last blog title is about getting engaged. To be honest, I'll probably never marry. The thought of having kids and putting them through the pain of separation scares the life out of me. Marriage is taken too lightly these days. I know I'm totally wrong to have this attitude but my lack of commitment to people and things is alot to do with being scared of it coming to an end.

As you know it was a Leap year last friday so I decided I would be brave and ask my mate to marry me. He said yes. We haven't got a ring or really celebrated it but we say we're engaged so there you go!! Who would have ever thought...

Even better news, I went over to Liverpool for a Richard Fleeshman gig. A.MAZING.

This silly computer doesn't have all of my photographs on it so I'll post the one of him looking at me asap.

His mum Sue played Jackie Corkhill in Brookside. As I was hanging with her on Saturday night I casually expressed my undying love for her son. I think she liked me.

I got home very early on Sunday afternoon and was ushered straight to the BBC to record and finish links to my first ever TV series. Blast on The Box shall be on your screens in a few weeks so I will keep you updated....

Macmillan Cancer Support and Craig Jeffrey

I was just browsing through the musicial side of bebo and fell in love with this guy Craig Jeffrey.

He's Scottish singer and songwriter, and launched his first single 'Hard to Say' last September. Craig wrote the single in memory of his two grandparents who he lost due to cancer. I think it's a great testimony to them that he's stepping out and using his voice to be a voice with his beauiful lyrics. I know it's a cause close to my heart as I lost my Granny to Cancer so I will definately be supporting him.. I think we all should. He deserves it.

Music, Singing and Flash Harry

Yes, I've been a blog slacker the past couple of months but my new resolutions not only consists of no fizzy drinks, crisps, sweets and chocolate but it's to write on this more often.

I've started to take my ability to sing alot more seriously over the past few months. I'm surprised John Mac didn't write a blog about our Live Lounge debut on Extreme FM just before christmas, ha ha. I've wrote quite a few songs now, saying that I struggle to finish them but they're a good basis for a fabulous bunch of tunes. I have a friend called Gary who not only is my modelling partner for Kim's photography projects but has a great voice and can strum the guitar so he's started coming around for 'jamming sessions'. I often get phone calls about being an acoustic support act for bands in pubs and clubs so we're preparing for that. I'm excited.

I have an uncle called Harry and he's the singer of a band called Flash Harry. They are flipping brilliant. They're a tribute for the band Queen and have been going for forever. Anyway, I was talking to the band last Thurday night at their gig in the Waterfront, I was explaining my desire to sing more and the bit of advice that's stuck out the most is to not do gig's if it's becoming a chore or a job. I think that's class that after 15 years of doing a gig or more nearly every week that they still enjoy it and aren't doing it because they need the money. My Granda Harry is probably the best for having kept up this bit of advice. He, at 75 years old still plays 4-5 gigs A WEEK. He's a Jazz Musician and can be seen each week in the Europa hotel on Saturdays between half 3 and 6. I know it's wrong to have idols but he is my biggest role model. He's a legend.

I'll keep you posted of gigs when I get booked!!!! In the meantime check out this video my housemate Roy and I made in our house... little amuses the innocent.
